Pin Out Verses Socket Compatibility

Several 184 pin ram cards are available. PC600 and PC800 can be exchaged, but what of the others (PC3200, PC700 PC2100, PC1600)? System and board manufacturers are not clear on this, nor are any web sites.

PC-600, PC-700 and PC-800 are RAMBUS. The other specifications are DDR-SDRAM.
All DDR-SDRAM sticks are backwards compatible, a PC-3200 specified to run with 200 MHz can be run as PC-1600 with 100 MHz. The only limitation may be in size, not all DDR-SDRAM capable board are able to correctly adress 1GB (or larger) memory sticks.
