I am completely and totally a noob to bios, i just read through the faqs, and I'm not even about to try to read the forum because I dont understand half of what you guys say.. but im a gamer..

I was wondering if i need to update my bios, i havent messed with them since i got the comp almost a year ago. i dont know what kind of enhancements you can do with bios either.. are there certain setups more for gaming or what? These are just a few things i am curious about. If i dont really need to update them then tell me and ill be done with it, but i heard you can tweak it to make performance better. Ive noticed a sort of lag ever since i went to XP on my new comp from 98.

All I can say is that if your system is stable and functioning correctly, then I wouldn't update unless I really required it.

Generally, one would update his BIOS if:
a) support for newer processors is required.
b) support for larger hard disks is necessary.
c) solve incompatibilities with add-on stuff (cards, RAM, etc.).
d) etc.

hmm

Yes. You'll know when you will actually need an update.
