If you see the it as unknown device, you need to install the drivers http://www.cmedia.com.tw/edl8330.htm

I do not see it as an unknown anywhere in device manager,it is simply not there,double-clicking multimedia in control panel does not help, everything in multimedia is (greyed-out)Will installing the drivers restore them or I need it in device manager before I can able to install the drivers?.Thanks.Felix.

Then your sound chip is disabled. Enable it; check the manual.

I think I cleared the JP8 --CMOS RAM Clear Selector jumper by accident, I found that out after I started the PC, then I head two quick beeps followed by one beep--at post it says : cmos checksum bad
press f1 to run setup
press f2 to load default values and continue
In cmos, everything is changed,350 mhz is now 233 mhz,the clock reads:1998 and no HDD information, all gone.Iwas trying enable the sound chip, tho I changed the selector back to normal mode but everything in cmos is still changed.Where do I begin to fix it? American Megatrends Inc. 61-1210-000747-00101111-071595-M747-M747V5.0-H.

Please help.Felix.

After you move the jumper back to normal, you need to configure everything - set the date, use autodetect for the HDDs, set the CPU frequency back to 350MHz, etc. Then save & exit.
