xp not much help in making a dos 6.22 bootable floppy.
any one suggest a source?

every flavour I agree. Too much.
Is a boot disk the same as a bootable disk?
All I want to do is format a bootable floppy to add a bios upgrade and awdflash prog.
I don't want lots of other bits that could cause more grief than I've got at the moment.

Get the DR-DOS "Basic-Biosflash" Bootdisk
It's the known best Bootdisk wit a lot of free space on your floppy
