Boot Problem

Hello
I have a Duron 900 with XP and if I turn the machine off from the windows menu I have a lot of problems trying to reboot it-I'm having to turn the power on and off for sometimes up to 1/2 hour before it kicks in.
If I choose restart from the menu then everything is OK.
I'm at the point now where I darn't turn it off in case it won't boot up.
Got any ideas?
