A quick question about upgrading motherboard

I'm a newbie to installs. When replacing a motherboard, do I have reinstall Windows on my C drive, or can I use my C drive as it is to boot up? I have Windows XP Pro, and I've gone from a Pentium III 866 to an AMD 2400 XP+. I went from a ASUS PIII motherboard to an ASUS A7N8X Socket A. Can I just exchange the motherboard/CPU and just plug in my graphics card? Or, must I reinstall XP?

Best option is to format the drive and do a "clean" install. Motherboard swaps are considered major changes and Windows XP does not like major changes.....

I back fully what Toby says. Changing hardware, especially main boards which are at the core of the system and frequently have an architecture that encourage Windows device settings with often minor changes is asking for trouble if you try to avoid reformatting your hard drive.
Just make sure you do a thorough backup first and that you have setup programs and settings for all of your software.
