BIOS Updates forum

Like the genius I am, I was clutching two bios flashing stiffys for two different computers whilst talking to someone at the same time and did the obvious and showed the person I was talking to (a client) what a great choice he’d made in a computer techie. I have perused this excellent site and found similar problems, but not mine (the last line in the error message below and yes I’ve tried other stiffy drives and cables and get the same message using ISA or PCI Video Cards as well). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Booting from a clean bootable disk I get the following:

Award Bootblock Bios V1.0
Bios Rom Checksum Error
Detecting Floppy Drive A Media…
Drive A Error. System Halt
(then I get a continuous high-pitched beeping)

i have the same problim.

mine started last night. my computer woke me up with the beeping and i have tried all that i know to do. i have not made any changes to the bios or installed any new parts. One more thing is i do not have a floppy drive on my computer but i would get the icon for a drive A.

these things are sent to try us placemaker - we can only wait and hope...
