I recently purchased an HP pavilion a1250n, which motherboard is an MSI MS-7184 (which apparently is an oem motherboard that is not supported by the company).

I was just wondering if there is a bios update that lets me unlock a few extra options (like overclocking) the HP bios does not have.

Any help would be really appreciated.

My Bios specs are as follows:

I am looking for a fix too. Did you come across one for the MS-7184 Bios?

I have a HP Pavilion w5052.be with an MS-7184 motherboard.

I flashed the MB with the latest MSI MS-7093 bios. And all is working fine ;-)

Mini Howto.

- Download latest MSI MS-7093 bios
- Make a bootable usb stick or CD or floppy
- copy the files to it
- run awfl855a.exe biosfilename /py/sn/wb/f
- Now the bios is flashed and your Pavilion will boot with the MSI bios but makes more noise and the bios is protected with an HP password, ...
- Open your case and reset your CMOS, ... move the CMOS jumper for a few secs
- reboot and enter your bios and configure as desired
- (for the Realtek AC97 driver go to http://www.msi.com.tw/

Have fun !!

Robin

For known computer manufacturers, (like HP, Toshiba Sony and such), always check their website.

For Toshiba I recommend to use Google because their website is way tooo much complicated and if you search you find nothing.

Oh thank you! This was genius. Any other compatible bios for HPs I'd love to hear about.

Most probably an OEM motherboard built by MSI for HP. No overclock settings in Bios.

I know motherboard bios not supported overclock. But, can I change current bios to new MS7093 bios. MSI homepages find MS-7093 bios. Can I change my current (MS7184) bios to MS7093.

one mainboard: MS7184
another mainboard: MS7093

a BIOS (or better BIOSes in general) is not interchangeable between different mainboard models!

You can change your bios to a different one. But then your computer won't work anymore. Do not use the other Bios unitl you are willing to buy a new computer!

Gentlemen, in this thread there's a post from someone named Robin that has done exactly this, flashing the 7093 bios on his 7184. Care to explain?

yeah. maybe that could work (the hp site offers only ONE bios for both mainboards) but since the mainboard still is an OEM version i don't recommend flashing any other bios.
