Typically a RAM problem...

Machine specs?

Did you test your RAM with Memtest86 or Memtest86+ as AJZ suggests?

win-xp sp2 and bios

You have not mentioned your motherboard make and model

if your receiving IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error this could for a lot of reasons either mainly because of hardware and bios incompatability

open bios setup and disable/enable hardwares one by one during XP setup
then you will get a clear picture.
if it doesn't work then ...

Upgrade bios, and then finally memory stick.( but before you replace anything, run memtest 86+ & also check your MB)
