BIOS AND MEMORY SPEED

:?:  Hi, my problem is the following :
My motherboard is an ECS P6BAT-A+ which operates with the VIA apollo pro 133 chipset. I have installed a 256 mg pc133 memory chip but the memory bus runs at 100Mhz that is at my processor's fsb. VIA states that this chipset can handle the memory bus running at a different speed than the fsb, so you can have memory bus running at 133Mhz with pc133 memory and fsb running at 100Mhz. The problem lies within the bios where there is a setting for memory to run at host clk or host clk minus 33. There should be an option of host clk plus 33. Do you know how I could add this option ?
I have upgraded to the lattest bios version issued by ECS.
Thanks

From reading the newsgroups I understand that you can not run CPU at 100 MHz and memory at 133 MHz on the K7S5A. You could ask again at http://pub65.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum

VIA 693 is 100MHz
VIA 693A is 133MHz

I looked at the VIA info on 693A available on the website and it does say that the memory bus can be run faster than the FSB; but the info is incomplete and I think it would be a major task to rewrite the BIOS to include the menu changes if this is not a hidden feature.

Interesting comment on ECS K7S5A BIOS change notes:
"k7s5a011109.exe V.01/11/09
Release Date: 11/27/2001
3. Fixed system hung up when one DDR inserted into DIMM2 and CPU/SDRAM selected 100/133"

so it may be available with some versions of the BIOS - ask on an Elite\K7S5A specialist newsgroup or bulletin board.

Thanks for all replies,

I have the 693A Northbridge and it is supposed to handle independent memory bus and fsb speeds. I think the problem lies in the bios. I saw in another forum that there is a bios tweak at by.rom but this site is Russian and i do not understand a single word. Isn't there something similar in English ?
