Hi
I'm reinstalling an old Hewlet Packard PC with Pentium III + 256 Mbytes RAM.

It had a 10 Gbytes Western Digital WD100 HD

I've got a Samsung SV6004H 60 Gbytes HD.

I've installed the new HD and at boot, the PC stalls with the message Detecting IDE drives ....

The BIOS is Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Entering SETUP the HD is detected as

IDE Primary Master SAMSUNG SV6004H

BIOS version read is HW.27.06(QHW.06.00)
Procesor detected is Pentium III-MMX 450 MHz

I've read in other sites, that the HD has been tested with a Pentium III (http://www.computerpoweruser.com/editor ... F02h08.asp)

Do I need a BIOS upgrade ?

Well, I made it work, but limited to 32 Gbytes.
Is there a way to use the rest of the disk ?

read the sticky thread in this section. if you are using Windows XP/2000 or Linux you can use the rest of the disk once the OS is loaded.
