I want to upgrade my BIOS on my Compaq Deskpro but bios agent plus says this:

Manufacturer: COMPAQ Computer Corporation 1982,98****é
BIOS type: COMPAQ Computer Corporation 1982,98****é
BIOS ID: unknown
BIOS date: 1998.12.10
Chipset: AMD 640 rev 3

What does that mean!!! :?
Also for some reason my computer when starting up does not give me the option at the bottom of the screen to enter the bios. It started to do this when i put the turn on password for fun but i now cant get it off is there a way to flash your BIOS when the Computer is on or do i some how have to fix that problem?

http://www.compaq.com/cpq-country/cpq_support.html

Check the label of your computer for a name and/or model number and search the support website.

They usually offer support for all their models ever sold since the 486 era. As said, please have a lott at your computer label what model your computer is.
It may be one of these models listed on the link below (a quick google search with Compaq and AMD640 came up with Compaq Deskpro 2000 series):

ya i found the exact computer

http://www.ccworld.co.uk/index.php?main ... cts_id=475

they called it this:
Compaq Deskpro 2000 P233mmx

but which 2000 series is it?? and all around my motherboard there is stickers saying: 47105.
oh and i got rid of the password by moving a pin to the disabled position but it still doesn't show bios at the bottom of the start-up screen.

I went through the 2000 series and it looks like they all take the same BIOS

UPDATE

i downloaded the bios tryed to upgrade it it says that it has aready been upgraded to the highest version

were stuck with the part of getting into the BIOS

Is the "identification sticker" still present on the right side of the case?

Thanks.

you can but there's no need for that as replacing the battery will also clear the settings. What also will happen is that the system time will be reset. If anything will trigger a press F2/F10 to go into setup, it is going to be that. It's a pity I gave my deskpro2000 systems to charity, I can't help you with hands-on experience now.
