Limit drive capacity

I have Maxtor 6y080lo 80Gb HDD
QDI P6I 440 BrillianX IS/2000 mobo
I updated with new`st bios
but when I put jumper in HDD like master or slave system starts but hangs
but it works with limit drive capacity half size
any sugestion???

which OS will you use? if it is Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Linux you can set the limit capacity jumper, install the OS and access the rest of the drive's space once the OS is loaded.

Well this is my oldest pc which I use just for downloads
PIII-500mghz 512 mb ram etc.
Before u used windows 98 but now windows 2000 pro
maybe I can use some kind of program which allows me to enable the rest size of HDD like logical part

Ps about bios version I tryed everything in every way but that`s it

with Windows 2000 there is no need for a special program or a bios update. just make sure to have at least SP4 and all chipset drivers (if not build in already) installed. you can use the inbuild partition software to access the rest of the HDD's capacity you couldn't see during the installation.
