Hi all,

I just bought a 80 gig harddisk, but only 33 gig is recognized. It's the 33 gig lockup problem I have.

Specs:

Program: Unicore BIOS Agent Version 1.8
BIOS Date: 02/25/99
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 02/25/1999-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KC39C
BIOS Eval: 02/25/1999
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
Superio: Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3F0h

can anybody find me a upgrade for my bios, cause I've looked everywhere, but nothing helped...

thanks in advance,

dEUS

Hi dEUS
If you check the AMI BIOS IDs link on the front page, it tells you how to identify the manufacturer from that BIOS code and yours appears to be Chaintech. Clicking on that gives you a list of BIOS IDs associated with Chaintech. Checking the last part of the BIOS ID (i440BX-W977TF-2A69KC39C) suggests three boards on that list, 6BTS, 6BTM and 6BDU. I would take a look at the Chaintech website and see what you can find.

If you have already done that, tell us what the board is and where the latest BIOS is and we can take a look at modfifying it if it doesn't support bigger disks.
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.

thanks a milion. I've been looking on the site, but couldn't really figure out which one to take. But with you help, I've got a update. I hope it's the good one, but it says:

*Change the new code base (including coppermine cpu micro code)
*Support HDD over 30GB
*fixes the jumpless display problem (700MHz,user define)
*Enable system fan
*Fixes the system LED of can`t work when system into suspend

SO, I guess it is. The link for anyone who's interessed:

thanks again.

Support over 32GB doesn't guarantee support over 64GB.... it'll depend on how new the BIOS update is, but I suppose that if they only mention support for over 30GB, then it's the "first" fix, so it's highly likely we'll be hearing from you again
