Hi to all,

looks like this great forum is what I was looking for. My 20 Gig IBM HD of my old PC got dammaged. Therfore I installed a 80 GB maxtor to the DFI P5BV3+ (Rev. C) Mainboard. The Bios crashes during IDE Auto detect in BIOS Setup and when showing the post summary with the drive capacities.

I tried the EZBios extension, but it worked unreliable. Tools like Norton Qhost don't work properly even when booting via the EZBios extension.

On http://wims.rainbow-software.org I found a patched relase, but unfurtunatly it is for the Rev. B of the board.

The latest Bios for my board are:

http://sj.dfi.com.tw/download/BIOS/BV3PC0103.ZIP (That's what I flased)
and a beta
http://sj.dfi.com.tw/support1/Beta%20Si ... BC1130.zip (didn' try that jet)

I will be very pleasured if the gurus of this forum can give me an advice for patching this 4.51 AWARD Bios or can supply me with a already patched one :D .

Thank you DonKracho

Patched BIOS sent. I haven't checked whether the files you linked are the right ones, though.

Hi ajzchips,

perfect job done! Thank you very much.

Shortly after my posting I tried the beta and for some reason the flash procedure crashed. The mobo was dead. Nevertheless today I programed the your patched beta externaly. Now the slow but verry silent nice machine is up and running again detecting the 80 GB Maxtor without faults.

The beta should fix some issues with linux but it is not containing the NCR bios anymore. But if you don't want to boot from such a device there is no need for it. I think the patched original will work too. You can put them on the http://wims.rainbow-software.org too.

Again, thx for your quick reply.

Best regards DonKracho

Would you like the NCR bios in the beta?

Hi ajzchips,

I used an old SCSI-board without BIOS bevore my hd crashed. Therefore I noticed it. But before reinstallation I removed all this stuff. So currently I do not need the NCR BIOS anymore. Thank you for your great support.

Best regards DonKracho

Hi,

it's me again. I've got another issuse. Currently I dont know if it is related to the new patched BIOS.

Problem:
even with the BIOS setting "Enable IRQ to VGA" my Banshee AGP card does not get an IRQ assigned by the BIOS. Therefore Win98SE does not assign an IRQ too and I get the wellknown shutdown issue and some 3D Games crash too. I already tried to remove all other cards, reseated the AGP card, cleared CMOS, forced new hardware detection in the BIOS and forced PCI slot 1 to IRQ 11. But still the BIOS summary tells "Display adapter NA". Next week I will try to install the 3dfx Banshee in another mainboard to see if it gets an IRQ then. I have no other AGP adapter with low power requirements. With current nVidia cards I fear to damage the AGP port of the DFI board.

Can this problem be ralated to the BIOS or is the DFI mobo or Banshee damaged? Before the BIOS Flash Utility crashed it did work. The currently used patched beta BIOS is programmed with an external flash programmer.

Thanks for any ideas DonKracho

It's BIOS problem - PCI slot device numbers are wrong. Have you used correct BIOS for your board? Have you backed up the BIOS before flashing?

Hi Rainbow,

it should be te correct version for the DFI P5BV3+ (Rev. C). But it is an unofficial beta. Maybe the download url is worg and that was the reason why the flash procedure crashed. So I will try the other BIOS ajz patched for me. This did work before.

Thx DonKracho

I just looked in the files using MODBIN and the PCI device numbers are the same so it should be OK...but it's not.
