Hi,

I have got these information about my PC and my BIOS :
BIOS Date: 01/21/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 10/04/96-i430VX-Ali5123-2A59GA1AC-OT
BIOS Eval: GREEN PCI/ISA SYSTEM
Chipset: Intel Triton 430VX rev 1
Superio: ALi M5123 rev 0 found at port 3F0h

I think my mother board is an Abit PR5R2, but I would like someone confirms this.

What is the latest BIOS for my PC, because I want to use a 10Go HDD.

Thanks in advance.

Jerry

ftp://ftp.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/pub ... /index.htm

Latest must be pr5cn (21/4/98). This would need to be patched for HDD over 32 Gb - did you want 10 Gb or 100 Gb ?

Interestingly, file compare (fc) sees no difference between the "PR5" and "PR5 R2" versions of pr5cn.

Thanks NickS.

I want to use my PC with a 10 Gb HDD.

Do you know the settings for the BIOS for this type of PC ?

I don't know the BIOS settings, but the manual should also be available at ftp://ftp.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/pub/mirror/. It looks athough you should be able to download the BIOS version CN from the link above and it will support HDD up to 32 Gb. The 0T version was limited to 8.4 Gb, I believe.

The CN bios for Abit PR5 is already patched up to 64GB at http://wims.rainbow-software.org/

True, but when I posted the link I wasn't aware that there was no difference between the PR5 and the PR5 R2 BIOSes. By the time I was aware, he had confirmed he only wanted a 10 Gb disk :)
