I have a m598lmr mobo and recently tried to attach an 80 GB Samsund HDD to it. It only recognized 32 GB when I used the 32GB jumper setting. Otherwise, it froze and never recoginized the HDD. Where can I get the bios update for this mobo? I have searched high and low and just can't seem to get this particular update. Help!!!

The bios is American Megatrends (AMI), the HDD is Samsung 80GB SP8004H, the mobo is chipset SIS530, PC100, model m598lmr.

:)

Freezes on autodetect or after setting the HDD parameters manually, or both?

The bios doesn't allow me to manually set the parameters. But, it is definitely locking up when attempting to recoginize the HDD.

Oops, I just realized that my bios serial number is wrong. It should be:

0323-001437-00101111-071595-000000-001_01_m598lmr-H

Sorry for the typo!

Please go to the Pcchips Lottery and see if you really have a M598LMR and if yes which revision number (printed onto the Board near keyboard connector) .
Then use the Links to get a newer Bios .

I checked PC Lottery and found my mobo there. It's version is 5.0. I downloaded the drivers, but they didn't work. The flash utility I received from PC Chips didn't execute correctly. :(

I also took a different route, I looked at Samsung for any info on the HDD and discovered a utility for alloowing the bios to see the full drive. One problem though, it's 1.57 Mb in size, so it won't fity on a diskette.

I last tried to use a large disk formatting utility from Maxtor. the utility was EZDrive and it stated the correct size of the drive, but would only allow a partition size of 14.5 GB. Is that the standard maximum size for FAT32 formatting? :?

I'm still looking at options, but any additional help would be great! :D
