I have a creative labs blaster pc, 2 of them actually, and neither of them can see detect the 60 gig hard drives. It will go to the autodetect screen or the bios auto add for hard drives and just stop. No further progress is made. Here is my information

Award Modular BIOS v4.51PGM
07/22/1999-i440BX-ITE867-2A69KH2EC-00
ITE 8671 rev 1 found at port 279h
Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
(M003BP43) Intel i440BX PCIset

If there is a patch out there, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Recieved upgrade and it works perfectly!

40Gb 02/02/2001-i440BX-ITE867-2A69KH2EC-00 with new flash

NickS suggested I make a posting to the forums with my problems so as to
optimise solutions. I was reluctant because of my lack of familiarity with terms used
here; I am out of my league. Fortunately I read the previous postings so I found this
had been answered at least once for my Mboard. My thanks to Wim's for keeping
these previous postings in the forum.

I have 2 drives, one an older Western Digital of just over 2Gb, the other a newer
Seagate of 40 Gb. I never could get the BIOS to recognize the new Seagate unless I
set the Alternate Capacity jumper which made my 40Gb a 5Gb or thereabouts.

From this forum I see Rainbow's posting, but I haven't tried it yet. I will after more answers from you. My Computer from Empac (a Creative subsid in Canada)
seems to have sold quite a few of these units through Tigersoft but support, from the
pages I've read at other sites, has been attrocious. Here is some information I have
been able to get on my machine.

Motherboard manufactured by Shuttle Inc. for a Canadian Creative subsid called Empac.
prod ser # m00369015210
Engineering ser # m0032822405463
BOM 24

Award made the BIOS chip s/n 191072787

Using Windows 98 2nd version

New Drive is a Seagate ST340823A

The original BIOS flash gave these switches in the batch program
awfl789 m003nl47.bin /py /sn /sb /cd /cp /R /cc /cks31f1

found via unicore's bios program:

Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 1.8
Program: Unicore Chip Detect v0.72 2000.03.10
BIOS Date: 02/02/01
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PGM
BIOS ID: 02/02/2001-i440BX-ITE867-2A69KH2EC-00
BIOS Eval: (M003NL47) Intel i440BX PCIset(TM)
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
Superio: ITE 8671 rev 1 found at port 279h

eSupport sold me a BIOS flash which I still can't get to work. The last thing I was
told is to be certain to set the drive to NONE in the BIOS so the BIOS will recognise it. I get a very faulty w98 when that is done and w98 quickly goes unstable.
Here is the string from the flash program used to flash the BIOS from eSupport.

AWDFLASH.EXE 2a69kh2n.bin /sy/py/cd/cp/cc

The support staff said that setting NONE in the BIOS allowed the Bios extension to
recognise the drive. It is recognized in that manner, but then Windows loads faulty
and incapable of operating. Using the Seagate Disk Manager in DOS, it informs me
that the drive IS 40 Gb under Drive Information, but at the format level shows me
8 Gb of it as the drive and another 8Gb mysteriously appearing under a drive
named BIOS.

The new LOGO stuff at boot says:
Award Modular BIOS v4.51PGM, An Energy Star Ally
Copyright (C) 1984-99, Award Software Inc

Creative Technology Ltd
(2A69KH2N) Creative M003 BIOS Provided by eSupport.com

Award Plug and Play BIOS Ext v1.0A

Using the NONE in the BIOS for my drive type makes this appear:

POWER BIOS Professional v2.05
Enhanced Disk Drive BIOS
Copyright (C) 1994-99 Storage Technologies Pte Ltd

Now to questions. Which Flash program should I use with Rainbow's m003nl47.bin
found in these pages? Which switches? Will I need the Seagate Drive Overlay
program? Will I need to continue setting drive to NONE instead of AUTO? Any
other suggestions before I make a go of it?
Many, many thanks for being here friends.

Flash using either awdflash or UniFlash. The switches are not important in most cases. After flashing, you can use the bigger drives as you want - set them as AUTO or run auto-detection in the SETUP. The drive overlay is not needed.

BTW.: Some people here at this forum had already the same problem with esupport and Creative board as you - they sold you a BIOS that is as bad as the one you had before, if not worse...

Many Thanks

Rainbow,

You are the pot of gold as well. Thank you. For the first time my drive detected completely and free of BIOS lock-ups. W98 even knew what to do with it. Thank you for sharing your talents with a stranger like myself! Now to get to the many projects I've delayed.

Hi I have also have this mobo (Creative Labs Blaster Board M003) with identical bios. I would like to use this board in a Network Attached Storage (NAS using FreeNAS) machine but need an updated bios to support drives up to 2TB. Would this be possible? or should I just give up and fork out the cash for a new mobo, cpu and RAM? Also the link to the updated bios posted by Denniss is dead - any idea where I can download the M003nl47.bin file referenced? any help would be greatly appreciated - I realiase this is an old post, but it's worth a shot.

FreeNAS uses FreeBSD which doesn't use any BIOS information when it comes to anything that has to do with IDE (which is your only concern because the board doesn't have any SATA ports and adding them via PCI cards isn't the same because they come with their own BIOS). The only thing you need is a boot-drive that is detectable by the BIOS. So you either use a small harddrive or use a harddrive that has a CLIP option to reduce the CHS size to 32GB (don't worry, FreeNAS uses LBA to query the drive and thus will detect the correct size). The boot-drive will be the only drive that is detected by the BIOS. Set all other drives to NONE beforehand (again FreeNAS will detect them anyway, because it'll query the drives even if the BIOS didn't).
There's really no need to update the BIOS.

Note: The bios core version in this bios allows only up to 128GB per disk anyway, that is the maximum size we can patch them to.
