40GB: DFI K6BV3+ (2A5LED4KC-00)

Hello, can anybody help me with this:
I use a DFI Motherboard K6BV3+ with Award Bios v4.51PG.
My new 40GB WDC 400BB wasn't recognized, so i flashed my bios
from the DFI-support site (from March.05.99 to May.08.99),
but still the drive isn't there.
Where can I get a valid bios?
Thank you very much for help, I'm really frustrated!!

DFI has a Bios on their Beta site already supporting hdd up to 128GB .

Scroll down the list and you'll find a 1/2001 Bios

To solve the system will hang up if HDD is over 65GB.
Support Auto detect IDE HDD when press "Enter" key on Auto type of HDD item in BIOS.

Hi everyone - first post here.
I'm having the exact same problem
dpopovi2 details above, with the exact same BIOS and drive.
I'm glad to know there's some kind of patch or fix for it, but unfortunately this link below

Does anyone have a copy of this file, or know of a new location to download it from? DFI's site still points to the invalid URL.

I get the exact same model number
dpopovi2 posted above, when I boot up the system.
What does this sh** mean, that the program file's part number doesn't match with my system?!?!
Edit: I /FORCEd it. It's not like it was working anyway. Seems to have booted up and accounted for the drive now. Any side effects to the /force I should look out for?

Final update: couple hours later and this works just fine. The 40 GB are accounted for, I've been able to partition the drive and Ghost back the images for my system and data volumes back into the new drive, and (gasp) Windows started up just fine - it only asked to reboot once because of 'hardware changes'. Fine with me.
I defragged my data (hadn't been able to in some time.. my previous drive was an 850 mb Seagate - no kidding!), which now shows up as a tiny, tiny splinter in Defrag -it used to take the whole color bar-.
It's essentially the same machine, only with 19 GB+ free on each volume
. I can dig it.

Some manufacturers changed the body of the BIOS ID string with the version, which was not what Award expected them to do - they should have changed the 2 characters at the end of the ID string and the date at the beginning.

So you're saying it's the same BIOS, only with a bogus model no.? In other words, no need to worrY?

Yes. That is basically it. The mobo manufacturer f*cking up the ID-string but not the bios (I hope at least).
