What's your BIOS ID string? There are more versions of M6VBE board. Maybe the patched BIOS at http://wims.rainbow-software.org/ is for you, maybe not.

My Id is:
03/23/2000-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C-00

does that means I can use the Bios at http://http://wims.rainbow-software.org which has the Id:
11/18/1999-693-596-8671-2A6LGB09C- 00

ist nearly identical, but the A in the modelnumber of my Northbridge and the date are different

also on the Fujitsu-Siemens page and on the biostar page the ist a warning that the m6vbe and the m6vbe-a bioses are not compatible.

I think it would be better not to use that patched one as yours is (a) later and (b) A. Would you like to save yours to a file and send it to Rainbow, ajzchips or me ? That will save some time if we can't find a later BIOS.
...or link to Fujitsu's BIOS ?
[update]
Fujitsu's latest is dated 29 Nov 1999 (11/29/99) so I'll get one from Biostar

You have the latest Bios for the M6VBE-A and it has to be patched from our moderators to support your 120GB HDD .
Do NOT install any other Bios already patched for older M6VBE !
This Bios is to be found on www.biostar.com.tw in the M6VBE section .

i've got the link to the update by fujitsu-siemens,
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.de/treib ... ?DRV=15703

surprisingly it's newer than that by biostar, i guess it's only the upload date or sth like that.

thank you, i'll test it tomorrow, and post my experiences than.

Yes, I believe only the upload date is later: the Biostar site BIOS for VBE-A VBE0323b.bin has OEM ID
"03/23/2000-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C-00".

The Fujitsu site BIOS for VBE-A, VBE0407a.bin has OEM ID
"11/29/1999-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C-00"

so I patched and emailed the Biostar site version.

M6VBE-A
Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
01/07/2000-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C-00
VBE-A 0107B
chipset: VIA 82C691 rev 68

I do also have the M6VBE-A board an I want to install a hd with at least 80gb.

biostar offers an update on its website from 24 april 2000

fujitsu´s site says that their update is from 4 july 2000.

I am writing the month name because when using dates from germany and USA, you are always in danger to change the numbers of day and month in mind... maybe that happened to the fujitsu people. after downloading their zipped update it contains a batch-file from 4 july 2000 and a bin-file dated 7 april 2000. were they a bit confused?

So the version from biostar should be the latest....

anyway - no matter which version - would you be so kind to patch the best version to make it working with larger hd ?
