I bought a new Hd but when I understood it only could reach 32 GB I... 8O
I've tried to get an update to my motherboard bios at http://www.msi.com.tw but I can't get it! The site is always reporting me an error!

My motherboards string is:
2a6lgm4ec-00

Do you know any site where I can really get an update?
Sorry this basic question, but as you see I'm a newbie...

Why not wait a day or two? They seem to be having a small MYSQL problem.

So the problem with the site isn't just mine!

Thank you.

I was afraid I was the only one who couldn't reach the updates.
If the problem is from the site, i'll patiently wait...

Do you have 6163VA rev 1.x or 6163VA rev 2.x ?
Using Rev 2.x Bios on an old Rev 1.x Board may cause some problems
Rev 1.x Board was used in OEM-Systems only

I check the motherboard and it is from version 1.0 .
Now I can access the http://www.msi.com.tw/ to dowload the update but I have a doubt...
In the «Award Flash BIOS Procedure» also available at the msi site i read:
«Download the BIOS that matches your motherboard AND version number»

But when I check the available updates at:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/b ... =MS-6163VA

I don't see any version under 3.0!
This means what? Can I download the 3.5 update?
Or there is no update for me?

I really don't know...

Please post your full Bios-ID string from the bottom and the line just below the Award Logo - maybe looking like W6163VA 1.2 or similar
The 6163VA Rev 2.x Bios might work but I got reports of getting messages like "no 80 conductor cable installed " if an UDMA66 or higher HDD is attached to the system dur to rev 2.x beeing UDMA66 capable but Rev 1.x only UDMA33
Or use the Bios agent from Wimsbios main page(upper left corner) and post what it finds

The Bios Agent's output is:

«
Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 1.9
Program: Unicore Chip Detect v0.72 2000.03.10
BIOS Date: 04/19/99
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 04/19/1999-692-596-W977-2A6LGM4EC-00
BIOS Eval: VMP 1.0B6e * MSI MS-6163VA
Chipset: VIA 82C597 rev 6
Superio: Winbond 977EF rev 1 found at port 3F0h
»

By your answer I understood that a rev 1.x won't support a 80 GB HD...
Am I right?

Latest version I have is 1.0B6f from 7/99 but still with 32GB BUG but should be patchable

As I'm moving my files to a new computer I have very limited access to them so Rainbow or another Mod should patch the Bios for you

It doesn't.
I've tried to reflash through autoexec.bat, but the floppy was completely ignored...
The only signal I get after the reboot was a repeting beep...
I don't know what it mean!

Ahh.. Maybe you wish to know: I used uniflash.

Greetings

I used the last version of Unipatch... I don't remember the version's number, and the HD where I've is in the store...

I got a warning! Something like this: "Bootblock mismatch"...
I knew it could block a recover througth bootblock but I didn't care. I was too tired of the bios issue.

Hmmm - User error
If Bootblock mismatch is displayed you have to flash Bios with bootblock (Advanced tab in Uniflash menu) or you'll run into the problems you have now

Please try to Clear CMOS - maybe the Bootblock will be OK to reflash your old Bios or the new one including bootblock
