Hi all, I've an FIC PA2013 Motherboard with an 8gb Fujitsu HDD running win98. I have tried accessing the FIC.com.tw site for bios updates and help but I cannot get onto it. have also tried the USA site but they send you to the com.tw site, bit naff really.

the bios string is: 03/21/2000-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEF09C-00 and the top left corner states: JI438

I have bought an 80Gb Western Digital HDD. when I try to install the 80gb as a single master it will not see it and stops at the part that gives you the option to press F4 to skip.

If I try to install as a slave to the Fujitsu it see's both and then carries on to the system configurantion screen and stops at: Pri. Slave Disk : LBA ,UDMA 2, and gets no further.

In the bios (Standard CMOS Setup) section I have all set to auto.

What's PCB version of your board? Should be 2.0 or 2.1.
There's this BIOS:
01/11/2001-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEF09C-00
Version JI4333
Supports HDDs up to 128GB.
But don't know for what PCB versions... I hate FIC support  They have at least 3 versions of EACH board and at least 5 different BIOS versions for various combinations of PCB versions

Hi rainbow, I think it's v2.0 on the motherboard underneath the actual model no there is: 2.0 E-0036 so 99% sure it's v2.0

I'm not impressed with FIC either

The JI is used to indicate a Bios version for the same revision as you have

JF is the indicator for the older PCB

Yes - i know
Only good thing is the PCB indicator with two letters - to make sure the Bios is for a specific PCB
If you have these two letters it reduces the choice of biosfiles
Then files starting with 113 are older than with 115 but they are older than files startng with the two letters (PCB indicator)

What makes no sense is JI437 is older than JI4333 - then you have to try or look at the upload date

Maybe it's that they got into double figures ?437, 438, 439, 4310, 4311....4333 ?!
