I bought a new HDD (SEAGATE 40GB, 7200 rpm, ATA 133) and my BIOS doesn't recognize it.

PLEASE HELP ME!

BIOS info:
BIOS ID : 2A69JF3BC
BIOS Date : 09/10/1998
BIOS Signon: 09/10/1998-i440LX-2A69JF3BC-00
BIOS Type : Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
Super I/O : SMC 60x rev 0 found at port 3F0h
Chipset : Intel 440EX/LX rev 3
OEM Signon : INTEL 82440LX VER:1.5

Where do I find FLASHBIOS update for mine?

Google turns up http://www.biosrepair.com/bioslogo/right11.htm which suggests it's a FYI (Full Yes) BIOS and probably you have the latest (1.5) if the file lxv1-5.bin is the latest. I'll check whether that is yours and whether it can be patched.
The FYI 82440LX does not appear on the list at nix.ru

Dead links everywhere.... found at http://www.pchome.net/dld/download.php? ... Lxv1-5.bin in the end. Patched and heading your way....

Thank you very much, but I'm not sure if the bin file will be a good version for mine.

Thanks anyway

It is the same bios you are already running, only with the 32GB limit bug removed.

@FMG: If you check the text file you will find that the BIOS ID and old BIOS OEM message are the same as yours - it is the same BIOS, just (as Edwin says) patched to remove some of the bugs.

I've flashed with the moded bios file (lx1-5x.bin) and the process was OK.
But when I've started the BIOS autodetection utility the system hangs. :(

Is that in the "Standard CMOS Setup" ?
If you:
- power down and disconnect the HDD
- power up, go into Setup ->Standard CMOS Setup, set drive type and mode to "auto"/"auto" and save.
-power down and reconnect the drive
-power up.
Does POST show the drive OK?

I can send you the same BIOS patched with bp if that does not work.

Thanks Nick, but it doesn´t work.

I did:
- power down and disconnect the HDD
- power up, go into Setup ->Standard CMOS Setup, and in the screen only appears:

Primary Master .... Auto (no more)

and the system hungs.

in an email, FMG wrote:I`ve installed the "bp" patch version. It works OK, it solves the hang-up problem and the system looks like very stable and solid. I've installed XP and the system have no problem. It's fantastic. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the feedback !
