I have to flash my bios because I want to install a 60 GB harddisk.
my BiosID-number is: 11/26/1999-693-596-8671-2A6LGC3FC-00 .
It must be a Via Apollo Pro Plus (692/596) Chipset, but there is no such
board manufacted by Chaintech (C3)!
I have a Compaq Presario 5536 desktop pc.
I'm very thankful for any help!!

I have a Compaq Presario 5536 desktop pc.
If this board is the original it should have a compaq spare part number on it. Please look for that number and post back with it.

If this board is infact a Compaq board, I cannot say for certain what a BIOS flash to a non-OEM version would do as far as damaging the board.<<---Airing on the side of caution here.
