Hello,
I've just received from a friend a M575 with amibios "020499s.rom" file on it.
It doesn't recognize >32GB, and I didn't read very good news on the forum, see "60GB: 51-0201-001437-00111111-071595-M1531/43-001-10--H" about this problem.
Is there a chance to find >32GB limitation amibios files for that board ?
Always asked myself if it was possible to change an Award flash eeprom with an amibios flash eeprom ? Is there a way for that ? I saw much litterature on tweaking award bios files, but never saw anything about amibios files ??
Does there exist tools ??
Thank you, X.

Enter HDD parameters manually.

Well,
Rainbow I've just tried manually settings, and could raise the size until, 65GB for my 120Gb. Indeed, I couldn't get higher than 65535 for Cylinders.
Well it's twice better, so as I have read during a linux install (failed because I think of bios, but reading my 120GB with the C/H/S configuration as 14593/255/63), I choose 14593 Cylinders, and could reach until 139 Heads, with 63 Sectors, obtaining 65GB size. I have not yet tested it under windows, but my linux install still fails during the "check partition" linux installation process

.
Just want to ask again!! Are there possibilities to mod an amibios file

?
Please tell me. Bye, X.

Your HDD should have the exact numbers of Clinders Head and sectors printed onto it - enter these values and enable LBA
-> If not printed/written on the HDD check manufacturer's website
If this does not work limit the drive to 32GB and install Linux - all above 32GB should be usable with Linux or NT/W2K/XP

Well Deniss, I tried that but nothing new. My linux install stills stops at my 120GB partition check! For purpose, the default settings for the 120GB in bios are C/H/S = 16383/16/63 that is 8.4GB (found and confirmed by seagate support), while the number of sectors is 234 141 648!!
I tried my settings in LBA mode on. The bios has other parameters :
WPcomp,
Block Mode, (set to On)
Pio Mode (set to 4),
and 32 Bit mode (set to On for hdds and to Off for cdrom drive)
Could I test any other settings, or do I have to buy one of those ATA Cards ??
For further information, I have set my both hdds in DMA33 mode (DMA2), and my cdrom drive is set to dma5. Could it be an origin of the problem ?
Bye, X.

Your boot partition has to be within the first 32GB - all other GB should be accessible within Linux
