You can upload it anonimously to ftp.insflug.org/incoming (I'm the ftpmaster, don't worry) if you want...

thanks! :)

Done, but you should also have it from my Yahoo alias. (I assume it is there as I can upload to /incoming but not see the contents.)

As usual:
- you flash at your own risk
- read and follow the flash utility instructions.
- we recommend you clear the CMOS ( take notes of how it is set up first if you want) after flashing - use /cc and /cd switches with the Award flasher.
- Some people need to run the HDD manufacturer's utility to reduce the transfer rate of a UDMA66 or UDMA100 drive to UDMA33. From the notes this was fixed by Shuttle in the latest version of the BIOS.
- if you have already used Disk Manager, EZ-Drive or similar, getting rid of it may be VERY hard. You will probably have to "fdisk /mbr", repartition and reformat the disk and maybe run the manufacturer's utility to reset the disk size.
- remember that FAT32 in Windows 2000 does not allow single partitions over 32GB in size - an operating system which supports NTFS partitions is required.
- remember that for Windows 98 an updated FDISK is required from Microsoft to handle disks over 64GB in size. FORMAT may also have issues displaying the correct size but should work.
**Please note that to simplify the automatic patching process, the disk capacity display has not been patched and the capacity may not be displayed correctly in the configuration report screen or CMOS setup. For example, a 120 Gbyte disc could show as 2139 Mbytes.

**Please report success/failure to Wim's BIOS forums.

NickS, thanks a ton!
No problem, your happiness is our reward. Hmm, that sounds like a marketing slogan.
Works like a charm, even correct capacity (80Gb) is shown in the BIOS POST screens. Installing W2K right now...
Be sure to tell us if you have a problem with that!
I see you used a BIOS patcher, I didn't know of such utility (thought the patches were done by hand)
They used to be until Rainbow automated it for us.
Is it available? I'm skilled w/ PC hardware and know the risks; such utility will be very useful as colleagues, friends, etc are constantly asking me to upgrade their old PCs harddrives. That way I could also contribute patched and tested BIOSes here.
It's not my utility and not my site; so far no-one other than the moderators here has been allowed to use it. I was invited to join the moderators after I patched a couple by hand. I would suggest you contact Rainbow and Soupy to see whether they would agree. There is also a patcher "bp" from apple_rom at www.rom.by which is more sophisticated but also not foolproof.
You're providing an unvaluable service!
Excuse me correcting your excellent English, but I hope you mean "invaluable".
