Does it hang while detecting your HDD or does it only show 32GB ?

after bios has detected this stuff:
amd-k6-2/300 cpu found
memory test: 65536 ok
Award Plug and play bios extension v1.0A
detecting ide primary master: ExcelStor Technology J680
detecting ide primary slave: none
.
.
.
it hangs with this screen(other layout, think it doesn't matter):
Award Software, Inc.

Co-Processor: Installed
CPU Clock: 300
Base Memory:
Extended Memory:

the EcelStore 80Gb drive is new, i tryed to install Linux with a bootdisk inserted, which does work (i've tested it on an other computer), but it doesn't work.
i already flashed my bios with a new one taken from epox, but it only provides drives to 15gb, i think. so there could be the only reason i can think of.
hope this information is detailed enough and s.o. can help
(you can also call me via icq, it is always online #144043836)
