BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 11/29/1999-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C
OEM Sign-On: VBE-A 0407A
Chipset: VIA 82C691 rev 68

I've already consulted the siemens site and uprgaded the bios
from VBE-A 1206A to VBE-A 0407A. But the bios still hang, when it
comes to recognise the maxtor 120 GB.

also, i've allready downloaded M6vbeax.bin from http://wims.rainbow-software.org/index.php?count=-1 and lauched it with AWDFLASH.EXE
downloaded from the biostar site http://www.biostar.com.tw/ , but it quindly refused with an incompatibilty error.

What's the exact error message ?

Tried the newes Bios FSC offers ?
-> VBE0727A -> dated 07/27/2000
--> Should support up to 128GB according to our testprog

If you can't find the Bios I'll have a look for the link ....

This message normally appears when the part of the ID string after the date is different....

Code: Select all

03/23/2000-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C-00
11/29/1999-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C
Is there no -00 on the old one ?

@Denniss: I guess we can withdraw the patched Biostar BIOS and tell people to use the FSC version ?

thnx denniss

thank to your mail and uniflash, I'm back to bussiness. VBE 0727A
correctly detected the 120 GB maxtor diamondmax plus 9 and,
at first glance, no problems occured.

Whilst reading other threads in the forum, i've noticed that some
members pay attention to the OS. Since i had to screw my OS
installation by the HD upgrade, I've decided to rapidly setup XP,
because of all the *.exe files i'd to deal with. I came from redhat 9
and I plan a dualboot ( grub) Fedora with suse. For the moment, I
don't suspect the upgrade to negatively affect the communications
between linux, the bios and the hardware.

No -00 at the End ?
Then Award Flashprog will complain .
If you are sure you really have the M6VBE-A then use Uniflash to update your Bios !

Hi all

BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 01/07/2000-693A-596-8671-2A6LGB09C-00
OEM Sign-On: VBE-A 0407B
Chipset: VIA 82C691

I just came back from an IT store with a brand new 80GB WD HDD and I noticed, that my BIOS is not recognizing the HDD.

I've downloaded the AWDFLSH.EXE from Amibios and M6vbeax.ini from Rainbow software. When I try to flash my BIOS I receive the following message: "The program file's part number
does not match with your system"

Could anyone help me?

If you are sure you picked the M6VBE-A Bios then use Uniflash to update your Bios.
