I have a pentium 2 350 mhz motherboard with this
bios. I'm trying to install a 60Gig hardrive and the bios
does not see the drive. I'm running windows XP. Anybody
know a site where I can download a bios that will support this
hard drive ?

bios id - 4/20/1998 - i440BX-W977TF-2A69KP89C-00

oem sign-on string - 4/20/1998 6BTDJ FOR PT-6IB & PT-6IBS

chipset- intel 440BX/ZX rev2

bios type- Award Modular Bios v4.51PG

Is there a way to read the bios and save it to a file? or do you mean phsically remove the bios chip and mail it to you ?

No, it just took a while to find. I will patch and email it to you. Please let us know your results.

Note: If the BIOS reports the HDD UDMA mode as >UDMA Mode 2 I think you will have to use the HDD manufacturer's utility to limit the drive to UDMA Mode 2. Check the "Collected Wisdom" forum for the post on links to manufacturers' utilities.

I have the same problem as above, but my disk has a size of 80gb. I have the same bios release. Is it possible to patch that thing for enabling harddisks > 64GB?

I didn't try the >32gb patch.

Yes, he actually came back and told us it whether it worked or not. Not everyone does that.

OK, look for (Azza PT-6IB PT-6IBS 128G).zip at the "untested" link in my signature for you to test at your own risk.
Remember about the UDMA mode issue mentioned above.
Clear CMOS after flashing
If using Western Digital drives be prepared to enter parameters manually.
Drive size reported by POST may be wrong.

I tried to patch the BIOS of my AZZA board. But I have a problem:

They say (on www.azzaboard.com) that people should use the AWDFLASH Utility to patch the BIOS. So got a copy of it from somewhere on the net. Azza Board has no such utility on their site (?).

I could backup the old bios and when got to the point where it starts writing the new BIOS, I always get the Error "Unknown Flash Type", then AWDFLASH terminates and returns to the command prompt.

Have you got a clue?
If not, it seems that I have to catch a smaller disk < 32GB.

Maybe you have wrong version of awdflash (older versions work properly only on older boards, newer only on newer) - use awdflash v7.x or UniFlash.

Hello there!

Unbelievable! It really seems to work. I flashed the BIOS chip using uniflash. Booting was no problem, harddisk was recognized (drive recognition was set to "auto" on all ide channels).

So I started setting up windows xp. Tomorrow I will run some checks and give some more infos.
