my ms-6159 mobo will not recognise the 80gb maxtor hdd i am attempting to install as a slave.
my bios string is as follows:
61-0413-001169-00111111-07159-440LX-1440L000-H
it is an ami bios
the master is another maxtor hdd of 8GB capacity.
The large hdd appears in the os (winxp pro), but not in the bios which is set to AUTO .
MSI germany has bios v1.6 but other sources only v1.2.
Unit will not post if larger hdd is set to slave, but will post if set as slave with a limit of 40gb with appropriate jumper setting (cvl or clv whatever)
any help greatly appreciated.
NTFS used.

You haven't told us which is YOUR version. 1.2? 1.6? Other?

Please post the AMI BIOS OEM Message !!

Should look like A6159MS V1.2 or similar !

Sandra/Aida/Everest should be able to read this

OK, you've got version 1.3 then. Try the German 1.6 and try your HDD.

You have to partition and format your drive first before windoze is able to store data on it !

successfully installed the 80Gb hard drive by using maxblast hdd installer for maxtor hard drives (after updating the bios and setting drive as slave.)
thanks for your advice, appreciated.
