Hi to all of you,

I'm new here in this forum.
My problem is the following:
My Mainboard DFI K6VX3+, Rev. AA with
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 11/04/1999-VP3-586B-CD-2A5LED4YC-00
Chipset: VIA VT82C
don't recognize my new 80GB-HDD Seagate ST380011A.
Withe the help of Google I found some notes, that the BIOS-Update inside the zip-file BK6BA0115.ZIP should fix the 64GB-BIOS-Problem, but the link on http://www.dfi.com/support1/Beta%20Site/biosbeta2.htm is dead! :(
Could someone mail me the BK6BA0115.ZIP or another BIOS-Update who fix the 64GB-Bug?

Thank you very much

Try again.

I tried clicking on the link you provided and a page came up no problems.

Maybe that part of the site was temporarily offline or you had a connection problem.

Be interested to hear how you go.

Jan Steunebrink (BiosMan) also has a copy on his "The Unofficial AMD K6-2+ / K6-III+ page" -

Hi Ritchie and KachiWachi,

thank you for your advices.
But both of your links leading to http://www.dfi.com/support1/Beta%20Site/biosbeta2.htm again and my Browsers (Internet Explorer 6 and Netscape 7.1) report: "Not Found The requested URL /support1/Beta Site/BIOS/BK6BA0115.ZIP was not found on this server." And even I shut down my Firewall!!
But Richie, if you're able to download the zip-File, would you please do it for me and send me via email?!

Thank you very much

They changed the way in...

http://sj.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/ <name of BIOS>.zip

Check your Mainboard ID though...

BK6BA0115.zip is for K6BV3+ ( 2A5LED4D )
BK6XA01153.zip is for K6XV3+ ( 2A5LED4Y )

Definitely double check your mb matching again:

You listed a VX in your model name in your posts, and I only saw XV, which I can only make a good guess at this being what you meant.

Also you mention Rev AA and I remember seeing Rev A on the site (NOT AA).

Info :
K6BV3+ is AT
K6XV3+ is ATX

Thank you and sorry!!
I exchanged two letters in the designator of may board and I forgot a "+" in the revision:

ATX-Mainboard DFI K6XV3+, Rev. AA+

I downloaded the BIOS-Update from your link meanwhile and flashed the BIOS.
After this the new BIOS and Partition Magic could access may 80GB-HDD Seagate ST380011A!
But after installing WIN98SE, one Partition of the HDD isn't accessable anymore. And the Computer sometimes fail to boot after memory test...
Let's see how I could fix this problem. I'll report!! :|

Clear CMOS and Load Setup Defaults in Bios .
Dump PM and use standard FDISK but you'll need an updated version as the Win98SE FDISK has a Bug above 64GB - should be available at M$ or search with Google

Also if you have any NTFS or Extended NTFS partitions, then you will not be able to see them from within Windows 98, regardless of which drive those partitions reside on.

However partition types should not upset the BIOS. Your problem is most likely when the BIOS POST transfers control to your hard drive. Quite likely something to do with 98's 64GB bug as Denniss suggests or possibly some corruption somewhere (which is also likely if the boot process only sometimes fails).

Hi all of you,

I solved the problem!!!! :D
The "VIA Bus Master IDE Driver for WIN95/98(SE)/NT4.0" (no matter which version, even the latest version 4.08 from the DFI-Site!!) for the DFI K6XV3+, Rev. AA+ was the bad one. Since I left out the installation of these drivers, I could access all of my partitions!!
Thank you again all of you for your help!!

If you need chipset drivers please only use the latest ones from www.viaarena.com . -> 4in1 4.34 or in this direction
If you need a Busmaster driver please use the 3.20B
