Hi Folks,

I recently purchased an 80GB Hitachi Model HDS722580VLAT20 hard drive.

It will not configure in my present BIOS.

I checked the hard drive jumpers and they are correct according to Hitachi.

I ran BIOS Agent.

I was wondering if anyone has the update or patch for this BIOS:

Program: BIOS Agent Version 3.42
BIOS Date: 03/27/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 03/27/1998-i440LX-W83977-2A69JECEC
OEM Sign-On: EP-KL11 V1.1 (3/27/1998)
Chipset: Intel 440EX/LX rev 3
Superio: Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3F0h
OS: Win98
CPU: Pentium® II (0.25 µm) 308 MHz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Unknown
BIOS ROM Size: Unknown
Memory Installed: 63 MB
Memory Maximum: Unknown

I tried the ENPC site and found that the company no longer exists.

www.esupport.com was indefinite about how large the hard drive support would be with their BIOS.

I need a BIOS that will support at least 80 GB.

I don't know if you can get me a later version than v1.1 for an EP-KL11.

Can anyone direct me to a .bin file that I could use to flash the bios so that it would see an 80GB hard drive?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thank you KURIAKI.

I downloaded KL1114.BIN and flashed it.

Although it is a later version, it still does not support an 80GB hard drive.

Is there a patched or modified BIOS for an EP-KL11 that can support an 80GB hard drive as described?

Thanks again for any help.

Here is the information on the new BIOS after I flashed KL1114.BIN.

Program: BIOS Agent Version 3.42
BIOS Date: 10/02/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 10/02/1998-i440LX-W83977-2A69JECEC
OEM Sign-On: KL11 ROM BIOS Ver 1.4 1998/10/02
Chipset: Intel 440EX/LX rev 3
Superio: Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3F0h
OS: Win98
CPU: Pentium® II (0.25 µm) 308 MHz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Unknown
BIOS ROM Size: Unknown
Memory Installed: 255 MB
Memory Maximum: Unknown

This new BIOS is functioning well on my system as of this post. It has no problems or errors and my computer performs a normal boot up. This new BIOS has been testing OK since 7:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2005

However, when I try to get the new BIOS to recognize the 80GB Hard Drive described in the first post, the BIOS freezes just as the older version of the BIOS does. When I use the 32GB clip, then the BIOS hangs on the Autodetect HDD page while trying to read the drive.

Thanks for any help.

Here is the information on the new BIOS after I flashed the new KL1114.BIN that you created.

Program: BIOS Agent Version 3.42
BIOS Date: 10/02/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 10/02/1998-i440LX-W83977-2A69JECEC
OEM Sign-On: ENPC EP-KL11 BIOS Ver 1.4 + Wimsbios 128GB HDD patch
Chipset: Intel 440EX/LX rev 3
Superio: Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3F0h
OS: Win98
CPU: Pentium® II (0.25 µm) 308 MHz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Unknown
BIOS ROM Size: Unknown
Memory Installed: 255 MB
Memory Maximum: Unknown

The flash of the new BIOS went flawlessly. This new BIOS is functioning well on my system. It has no problems or errors and my computer performs a normal boot up.

I reconfigured the jumpers on the 80GB hard drive for master. The new BIOS does recognize the 80GB Hard Drive described in the first post. I partitioned the hard drive using Norton PartitionMagic. WIndows 98SE now reads a 76.6 GB partition for my C drive.

Conclusion: The first tests of this BIOS have been completely successful. Truly excellent.

May God bless you and your remarkable talent.

All the best to you,
