Please help,

Would like to run a 60GB drive on my old server.

This has a standard A-Trend ATC-6130E mobo.

Tried the patched bios on rainbow (by ajz), whose number corresponds exactly to my current bios, i.e. 09/29/98-i440EX-W977-ATC-6130C-00 and ATC-6130E VER:1.0 04 GS.

Seemed to install ok using Uniflash.

The existing two primary drives (20GB and 10GB) are setup as 'User',
i.e. manual parameters (not using Auto).

The new 60GB drive's cables unattached. Both secondary slots are set to
'None'.

After installing patched bios, when I switch to the first bios page with disk setup, there is a small amount of rubbish text in the top left
corner, and its hung before refreshing most of the rest of the page.

Have also installed using the latest Award installer with same result.

Is there anything else I can try, thanks?

Cheers

Ron

OK, since you're using a 60GB HDD, try the newly patched version I uploaded, which supports upto 64GB only.
The 128GB patch occasionally messes things up when the original BIOS is pre-1999.

Check my signature... and post results please.

Thanks ajzchips,

Last night I managed to get the 128GB bios working. I did this by using the original bios to set the bios configuration to AUTO for the three drives that I am using, including the 60GB one. Then installing the patched 128GB patched bios. On rebooting all of the drives were recognised and are working under Windows. However not sure about bootup reliability as the system hung once. Would you advise trying your 64GB bios anyway?

Cheers

The 64GB-patched version is highly recommended if you don't plan to use HDDs over 60GB in your system.

Thanks ajz, the 64GB patched bios works a treat. All bios pages appear to operate correctly and all hard disks recognised (20GB, 10GB and 60GB). -:)
