Please post your full Bios-ID including the OEM signon - this Info is needed to know what revision your board is and to determine whether Retail or OEM board.

award series 6 from 2001 that has no 80GB support? That would be a firsttimer. What does happen when you connect the 80GB harddisk (brand/model)?

everything seems to be working properly. I've found that the problem was the OntrackDDO software (supplied by Maxtor to overcome HD size 32Gb problems); by removing this, disk is seen as 80G by WinME too.

Anyway a message still appears at boot, something like "warning, primary IDE has not 80 pin cable"... I'm sure that the cable is 80pin (i've also tried with a new one), and i don't know why. What's the problem?
thanks and BR
V.

P.S. primary HD is Fujitsu 20G (don't remember model) as master and secondary is Maxtor 4K080 80Gb as slave. Bios rev is 1.1

Maybe the IDE-cable is used in the wrong direction ?
->blue end to mainboard and black end to master drive
