Bios Patch Question

I was wondering does a bios PATCH also makes the computer unbootable or will it still boot without a problem?

Thank you for any replies.

There have been unfortunate cases of BIOS corruption... :(

So say if my flash goes bad, just insert the backup disk?

Depends what you mean by "bad". If you create a BIOS with a bad checksum but still have a good BIOS bootblock you should be able to reload the BIOS. If you load the wrong BIOS (i.e. for another motherboard) correctly, you may not be able to recover.

this is the BIOS patch i will use: http://wims.rainbow-software.org/th/Biostar%20M5ATC.zip. If i use this and it goes bad, can i use the BIOS backup disk.

If you are trying to flash a Biostar M5ATC that should work. If you are using the unpatched version of the BIOS from the same date you should not have to overwrite the bootblock in the BIOS or clear CMOS, but if you are using an older BIOS you may have to do both.

I've used this file personally, and it works just fine. :)

This does not mean that something won't go wrong during the flash process...two different issues.
