BIOS Updates forum

I had - in this forum often described - problems with a 80 GB HDD in an older computer (Fujitsu Siemens PIII 600 MHZ with OEM Board of MSI). After flashing the BIOS Update from the Fujitsu Siemens Support: no change . After flashing the patch of the wimsbios team: HDD will be detected, Bios Auto detecting works .
But now I have RAM problems. If the new Harddisk is connected to the IDE bus, it's recognized, but the built in RAM (256 MB) shrinks to 128 MB. If it's disconnected, BIOS detects the RAM size correctly, but I have no big HDD
The new HDD ist connected with an old 40pin connector cable. Could this be the reason of my problem?

Board: MSI MS-6156 VA Ver. 2.1 BX7
Old BIOS: Award v4,51PG (W6156 VA F1 V 2,0 110999)
Current BIOS: W6156 VF1 V 2.3 040500 128 GB patch by wimsbios team
Memory: 2 slots with 128 MB sdram (different manufacturers)
OS: Windows 2000

Try the MSI retail Bios - should work with these boards.

-This Bios is for your MS-6156VA Rev 2.x - the FSC-version is an OEM-version using the same Bios with some options hidden/disabled.

With this BIOS of MSI Harddisk and RAM are recognized and the computer works propperly
