Reading the forum I found this link, wich is (I think) an upgrade for the 7ata Chaintech motherboard:

ftp://www.chaintechusa.com/7xMB/7ATA0116.EXE

now the matter here is that in the post that I read, said that this is an upgrade for the next id-string: 05/09/2000-8371-686A-TA6LKC0CC-00

The question is: will this upgrade work for a bios wich id-string is
04/12/2000-8371-686A-TA6LK0CC-00

If your board is a 7ATA, that link should be suitable for your board. The fact that the date code at the start of the string is slightly different to the other post is not significant in this case. Remember, flashing a BIOS always involves a slight risk. Do you need to do this?

If the power drops halfway the flashing process your board won't boot and you'll need to do a recovery flash.

On some PC Chips motherboards they have used ASD branded chips that easily died in a reflash process rendering the board unusable until refitted with another bios chip.

Just make sure you use a new floppy for flashing so you don't have read errors and all that.
