I have a problem, i have a new WESTERN DIGITAL 80go ATA, and he's not recognized, and computer doesn't start after first connection,

if your hdd isn't recognized at all check the cabeling and/or make sure the hdd isn't damaged in any other way (e.g. got if for free, bought it off of some online auction, etc.)
