Tekram P6B40-A4X BIOS Patch Needed
Posted: Thu Dec 28, 2006 8:08 pm
Sorry for the length of this posting but I do my
best to provide as much info as I think is needed.
So please read through the whole story--I promise;
it's all relavent. (I hope my image URL works.)
I have read the Posting Rules; I have also searched
this excellent web site (you guys are the best) for
Tekram issues and have not found an answer to my problem.
I am having the same problem now in 2006 with my
Tekram P6B40-A4X (v1.01), Pentium III MoBo as the
others above. Here is my current BIOS:
Program: eSupport.com BIOS Agent Version 3.45
BIOS Date: 12/05/00
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 12/05/2000-i440BX-W83977-2A69KTG9C
OEM Sign-On: TRM-P6B40-A4X V1.11B0
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
Superio: Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3F0h
OS: WinME
CPU: Pentium III (0.25 Um) 501 MHz
Here is CTBIOS-Info (if this helps):
BIOS-Info, c't/Andreas Stiller, V. 1.5 10/00
Computer ID : FC, SubTyp: 01, BIOS-Level: 0
Rechnertyp : AT-3, Konfigurationsbyte $74
Maustreiber : nicht gefunden
Bus : ISA/PCI
Hauptspeicher : 640 KB, davon verfugbar : 639 KB
Extended Memory : 65472 KB
BIOS Datum : 12/05/00
PCI-BIOS gefunden : Version 02.10, 32-Bit-PCI-BIOS Revision:0
PCI-Busse : 2, Konfig-Mech.: 1, Special-Cycle-Mech.: 1
Award BIOS gefunden : Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
Award ID-String : 12/05/2000-i440BX-W83977-2A69KTG9C-00
Board/BIOS-Version : TRM-P6B40-A4X V1.11B0
OEM : TEKRAM
URL
Chipset : i440BX-W83977 //Intel 440BX
INT-13h BIOS Extension: ja, Version:2.1/A4 Fknt 41..48 unterstutzt
PnP (ACFG,ESCD,DMI) : PnP V1.0/ESCD, DMI V 2.0, APM V1.2
This v1.11B BIOS works fine with a new install of WinME
on a 4.3GB Fujitsu HD. Before this, I tried the 1.10 BIOS
found on your Rainbow-software.org page. This 1.10 BIOS
causes a problem with my PCI to ISA bridge (ISA mode)
in Device Manager as follows:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rjk75/alb ... /my_photos
So I found this 1.11B BIOS on the following URL:
http://www.driverscollection.com/?file_id=21013
I flashed it in successfully the first time as every
other BIOS-flash I have done. This cleared up the
PCI to ISA bridge (ISA mode) error immediately.
Now here is my problem:
I am trying to get my (1.11B) BIOS to "see" an 80GB
Seagate HD using an IDE or EIDE cable. With no other
drives connected, the POST hangs on the last comma
when the following line appears:
Pri. Master Disk : LBA, UDMA 2,
The 80GB HD jumper is set to MASTER, and I am using
AUTO and AUTO in the CMOS SETUP with no other drives
connected. The PC also hangs in the IDE HDD AUTO
DETECTION screen in CMOS for the 80GB.
All I want to do is FDISK this new 80GB for FAT32,
format it, and then use it as a slave for data only.
Setting the 80GB HD jumpers to "Alternate
Capacity... 32 Gbytes" lets my system boot and get
past the POST to a DOS prompt. But I do not want to
go this route because I will have to use Seagate's
DiscWizard to create an Overlay to "fool" the Award
BIOS. Later on I would like to put this 80GB HD
in a USB case (maybe).
Can the v1.11B BIOS be patched to allow it to see the
80GB Seagate HD?
Thanks very much. Best regards to everyone at Wim's BIOS
for the new year.
