Hello all,

I have an old Pentium 233MHz PC and have just bought a 40Gb Western Digital Hard Drive. I've been led to believe that my current BIOS cannot handle the larger HD and I was wondering if someone could help with where I can get an upgrade.

Specs of current BIOS are below:

Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 1.8
Program: Unicore Chip Detect v0.72 2000.03.10
BIOS Date: 06/30/97
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 06/30/97-i430TX-2A59IA29C-00
BIOS Eval: ATC-5000 BIOS VER:1.0 04
Chipset: Intel Triton 430TX rev 1
Super i/o: SMC 67x rev 1 found at port 3F0h
Chipset: Intel Triton 430TX rev 1
OEM Signature: ATC-5000 BIOS VER:1.0 04

I've been in contact with Phoenix about the BIOS but the haven't replied as yet. Following advice from this site I've also sent an email to unicore.com about the upgrade and they also haven't replied.

Basically, I'm pretty stuck and really need to get the new drive installed as soon as I can to get some gear off my work laptop!!

Any help is greatly appreciated

You have an Atrend ATC5000 motherboard. BIOS upgrades and flasher are at the following link:

http://txp4.narod.ru/atrend/atc5000/files.html

5000107 is dated 98/12/23 and the Beta version 5000108a is dated 99/11/11.

:) :) :)

Thanks zonxar

Thanks zonxar. I'll download the 1.07 version since it isn't beta and see how I'll go. I'll post back with findings.

Cheers

You'll need the beta to support your new HDD!

It's always the way!!

Thanks ajzchips. I'd tried the 107 version and it still hadn't fixed the problem. I'll download the beta and try that!! Always the last thing you look for isn't it?

Cheers
