ok so a friend of mine, bought a computer for a whopping 40 bucks. its not bad for everything including a printer and the regs. the only problem is, it only had a 1 gig hd installed. the computer is a hewlett packard brio a600.

im trying to install this 80 gig hd and well its not being detected

i've been searching the net for any type of upgrade to get this HD working. i seen this site and figured to stop thru, say hi, and get a little help.

does the bios hang on detection or isn't the hdd detected at all?

if it's the latter check the hdd jumpers and the cables.
if it's the first please read the sticky note in this sub-section. if you're not going to install Windows XP/2k or Linux report back.

cp - it does hang on detection.

gonna try and use that patched link and get this thing working...
