I cannot get this processor to boot on my ECS nf650Islit-a v1.0? either way it is a phoenix award bios version 6.00pg bios without the cpu code in it I am betting. I have the source bios. Where do I go now? I can't find the micro code to the x3360 or I would add it into the cpucode.asm file I have and what should I do to the cpucode.bin? Also should I just run flat assembler on this when I am done with it?

Intel® EM64T requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, operating system, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel EM64T.
Something that is nowhere to be found on that ECS board. Now I don't know if that was by choice or if they simply forgot. Fact is, there is not a single Xeon on the list of supported processors.

yeah I have the xeon running in an old intel P5B, just a good ol basic P5B 800 mhz fsb at the moment right now. I guess only intel motherboards are setup to run the xeons? I thought em64T was only run if you were using a 64 bit operating system? But here is the thing, all of the q-series processors also have em64T it comes with the processors. What is kinda weird is their lack of support for quad cores under the q6600 family. I have e-mailed them asking for a bios upgrade I am sure they will tell me to stuff it.

ah the answer

It seems that ecs elitegroup did not include 45nm chip support for this board. That is my hang up here and to be honest I don't know how to add it. Probably a bit more complex that throwing in a piece of cpu and microcode. Don't buy from ecs the 650i chipsets do support 45nm chips with a bios update they just refuse to do it. Buy our new stuff the rep says after I already paid for the board. Asus too what does it take to get a good board now a days? anyone have a suggestion for a company for me to buy from (good support, good bios updates, keeps up with current tech)?

Yeah well apart from the chipset you need to add some electrical stuff around that too, the supply circuits etc. Since that requires more money invested per board and ECS is a budget brand...
