We have recieved a 333 mhz Bus AMD XP 2600+ From our distributor. We did request a 266 mhz bus cpu But one of my Techs decided to open before reading the box on the non OEM kit. So i am stuck with it. The question is with this 333 mhz Bus 2600+ CPU run on a 266 Mhz Bus motherboard that is not able to hit the 333 mhz mark. If it does run what would it run at. What kind alterations would i have to do if possible to make this work.

Or if there is a way to make it work. LOL

The Board is a FIC AM37-L There is a bios Update that allows this Board to support the 2600 and 2700, But nothing in the bios update that tells me that a 333 mhz bus is supported on the board.. A Distributer of ours said after the bios update it should work but it will clock down. Now that doesn't sound right. Would make sence to make a 333mhz cpu and a 266 mhz CPU at 2600+ if the 333 mzh cpu is 100% Drop down clockable. Would it? In a Pentium I would have tried it. But have seen to many AMD Chips and Boards go poof in a snap of a finger.

Always thankfull for the help.

With a supportet FSB133(AKA266) XP2600+ the FSB166(AKA333) 2600+ will run but at reduced speed at ~XP2000+ due to it's multiplier and lower FSB
It might be possible to change the multiplier to a higher one to get more speed out of the CPU

Thanks
