Hi,
I have a DFI PA61 motherboard (revision D2).
The board works fine with a celeron 500 CPU (66X7.5).
I recently got a celeron 900 CPU and tried to install it with no success.
The board dosn't seem to show any sign of life.
I have the latest bios (27.07.2000) which I got from the official DFI site.
Help please!!!
Can I make it work?

Is the new CPU known to be a working unit? Does the latest BIOS support this CPU?
From DFI Website - (
http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_produc ... CT_ID=1217)
CPU -
Pentium® III 533EB-733EB*, 533-733MHz/133MHz
Pentium® III 500E-850E*, 450-600MHz/100MHz
Pentium® II 350-450MHz/ 100MHz
Pentium® II 233-333MHz/ 66MHz
SEPP Celeron™ 266-433MHz /66MHz
CPU is working, Bios does not support Celeron 900 CPUs

Hi,
The CPU is working (worked on anouther computer up until now).
The latest Bios supports Celeron CPUs up to 700.
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get Bios that supports Celeron 900.
Thanks.

The BIOS needs to support the 9x multiplier (looks like it can do 100MHz for the PIII CPU's) for the Celeron that you have.
Perhaps the BIOS can be patched using Apple_ROM's patcher. I would ask an associate here if it is possible, since I have no experience with his patch utility.
Note that the supported Celerons are 242-pin SEPP (Slot 1)...the largest Celeron made was 400MHz in the configuration (
http://processorfinder.intel.com/script ... ProcFam=49 ). A 500 Celeron is 370-pin PPGA as are the 900's.

Are you sure you have the proper type CPU there or has the CPU socket been changed for your Motherboard Revision??
Thanks for the help

Hi,
I'm using a slot1->370pin adapter.
It works for my celeron 500 so I guess it should work also for the 900.
I would realy appreciate if you can tell me more about that patch utility you mentioned.
Thanks

It's called bp and it can be found at
www.rom.by
If you want to do it yourself you will need UNRAR to unpack the archives

Your Adapter has to support the FCPGA Pinout of the Celeron-900 or it won't work - the older Celeron-500 has a slightly different PPGA pinout
Make sure your Adapter is capable of both PPGA and FCPGA or you need to get a new one supporting FCPGA
Thanks - I will check the adapter and let you know...

The adapter is most probably the problem. If it's PPGA-only, you have to get a FC-PGA one or modify it (
