Socket 7 Motherboards were limited to 550Mhz MAX for CPU. Mainly because there were no faster processors manufactured.

I would just overclock the 500Mhz version that you have.

Not really 550 max... When you set you k6-2 multiplier at 2, it automaticaly maps to 6, so when using a 100mhzx6 = 600 mhz... When youre lucky, your k6-2 will pull it off, but not a big chance...

about the memory thing, 100 mhz would do just fine, but when raising the bus speed above 100 mhz, use 133 mhz memory to get a little more freedom in raising your buss speed
