Hello gentelmen,

I was working hard to get my Asus A7S266 VM U2 motherboard bios updated to get it working with 1440x900 resolution wide screen display.

It has an onboard Sis 740 Series, with vBIOS version lower than 2.28.00. After flashing the BIOS with Asus revision 1009 I had no luck reaching the expected vBIOS version.

Could someone help me with a reliable BIOS Update to let my old pc work with a nice resolution display please ;)?

Thanks in advice!

Victor.-

Have already read that and couldn't make it work that way.

Can the new vBIOS be updated on my ASUS motherboard?

Hello,

I'm working with Asus A7S266 VM U2 and updated BIOS to 1009 BETA (1009u001.zip).
Others details:
- Windows XP SP3;
- SiS 740 Chipset Host-PCI Bridge [A-1];
- Everest shows SiS 315 Integrated Video Adapter Bus AGP 4x.

So, installed the Sis AGP (GART) driver (1.21) and UniVGA3 3.73 but system don't shows 1400 x 900 option for me.
I checked the Display Settings -> Product Information: Software 3.73, BIOS (Rev OEM) 1.11;

:arrow: : Systray freeze if I choose option Driver Mode Settings (Sis Compatible Super VGA Tray Application "found a problem and need to be closed"):
AppName: sistray.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.3730 ModName: sisapcom.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.3730 Offset: 00004089

I read the ReadMe.TXT file and don't exists 740 on Supported Chipset:
--------------------
1. 661FX/M661FX/M661MX
2. 760/760GX/M760/M760GX
3. 651/650/M650
4. 741/741GX/M741
5. 661GX/M661GX
6. 662/M662/M662MX
7. 761GX/761GL/M761GX

Somebody help me?

Thanks in advance.

1) Read the sticky thread
2) You need to use the patched Bios containg a newer VGA Bios required for the 1440x resolution
3) The UniVGA3 3.73 for sure supports 740/65x integrated VGA
