Video during Post, but no video at BIOS setup

I have a system with an Aopen AK-86L motherboard. During start-up, I see all the post messages and the Aopen multi-color logo, etc. When I press <Del> to enter the BIOS set-up, instead of entering the BIOS setup menu, the screen is black and the cursor flashes in the upper left corner. I am running WinXP pro without any issues. I just cannot enter the BIOS setup. My monitor is an LCD flat screen. Any suggestions?
