MS 8847 ver 100 AGP Card Issue

Hi,

This is an MX440SE-T i.e. NVidia GeForce 4 4X based card.
It has VGA, S-Video and AV-Out (Composite).

I received this card and found when used it has a series of evenly
spaced thin vertical white lines at POST screen. If I enter the
mobo BIOS these lines disappear. Have not tried it (to date)
with Windows or Linux.

I physically checked the AGP card and found 3 surface mount caps
noticeably amiss. Replace these easy enough - but problem persists.

When power on mobo, the VGA BIOS screen does not appear so
I cannot reliably tell what version BIOS, memory etc. this AGP card
supports. The problem remains same irrespective of mobo.

I will use the available tools at
http://www.whitebunny.net/hardware/chipset_nvidia.html
to make certain what card I am dealing with.

Any advice?

Got a BIOS image with DumpBIOS and looked at the image with
BIOSEditor v1.0 RC3 and find the follwing details.

Device ID - 0171 NVidia GeForce4 MX440
Sub Vendor - 1462 Sub Device ID - 8470 MSI
BIOS version Message v4.17.00.45.91

The clocks are set as follows;
GPU 250 for all entries and
Memory 58 for only one entry given the RAM id'd as DDR

So, guest its been overclocked?

Made a quick mod to the image to drop GPU to 200 and
display RAM, VGA BIOS version and signon - this works ok, that is,
in DOS the white lines have gone but remain at POST

Any insight?

Flashed BIOS to v4.17.00.63.42

Problem persists - still have fine white lines on POST screen
