flash the latest bios. it contains a more recent version that fixes your problems.

Thanks guru...i have updated my bios. 1440 x 900 resolution is displaying in the settings tab.

The problem is the 1440 x 900 resolution is not fitting within the monitor ,it is exceeding the monitor's viewable area. So,I have to scroll the screen to see the entire screen which is horrible.Pls help me to solve this issue, any valuable inputs are welcome.1024 x 768 resolution only fits the monitor viewable area fully.

I have updated my VGA card with with uni_vga3.83 driver file from SIS,eventhough any resolution which is greater than 1024 x 768 is not currently fitting within the screen.Anyother way to change.

Your monitor should have an autoconfiguration option avaiable via the OSD menu. What happens if you use it?

What resolution refresh rate does your monitor display in it's OSD information tab?

In the monitor's OSD,when i press the auto configuration button nothing happens.
One more thing is,when I set any resolution greater than 1024 x 768 resolution, the OSD information shows only 1024 x 768 and I can't able to view the full resolution, I have to scroll in the desktop to see the full screen and is not fitting exactly within the viewable area.

You may have to install drivers/software for the monitor also.

Sounds like the SIS VGA driver sets up a virtual 1440 resolution but still uses a real 1024 resolution on the monitor.

Either the monitor uses a wrong driver or it's a SIS driver problem. If a monitor driver does not help then try deinstalling the SIS driver, reinstall after reboot and see what happens now.

Problem solved ,But i get 1440 x 900 resolution in 16 bit color only and is not coming in 32 bit color. It gets automatically changed to 16 bit.

Thanks for everyone for sparing your time and providing me the valuable ideas.

I have the same SiS 760 Graphics however a slightly different mobo Asus K8S-LA. I'm having trouble also with a 19" display. I've updated my sis drivers and also my mobo bios but I guess it didn't contain the latest Vbios because my vbios version still says version 0.99 like yours did. Is there a way I can get just the VBIOS update? Thanks

I have a k8s-mx and I can't get the resolution higher than 1024x768. My monitor is a Samsung 205bw -- 19" widescreen. I think I tried everything. Here's what I did:

1. Got the latest bios from ASUS - the filename is K8S-MX-ASUS-1019.001
2. Made a boot disk, rebooted to DOS, flashed the bios -- required that I change the bios rom file to an 8.3 name weirdly...
3. Got the latest drivers from sis - uvga3_383.zip
4. Unzipped, ran installer -- prompted me to uninstall current drivers and reboot -- did that and re-ran the installer -- installed everything -- reboot
5. Tried some resolutions above 1024x768
6. Same as before -- still 1024x768 but I can move my mouse outside that area and the screen scrolls over
7. Downloaded and installed Samsung's monitor driver
8. Rebooted, tried again.
9. Same results

What now? Any thoughts?

oops, the latest ASUS bios already contains a recent enough version of the video bios to fix your problem. can you please post the video bios version displayed in the vga driver tab?
