I recently got a new monitor Acer 19".

The problem is the widescreen resolution 1440x900 is not supported.

I have upgraded to the latest driver on SIS site, but no use.

Seems to be I might need a BIOS upgrade. Please suggest.

I did an online scan of my system. I am enclosing the findings below:

there is no video bios available that supports your chipset and widescreen resolutions with Windows. so either you get a PCI vga card or you install any linux distribution since the free x11 driver supports widescreen modes out of the box without the need for a special video bios version.

oh, you could still write SIS and complain about their lousy Windows drivers and/or their video bios support in general.
